TNI Siapkan Keamanan untuk KTT ASEAN ke-48 di Filipina

Suara News - RRI.CO.ID, North Sulawesi - The Indonesian Military (TNI) conducted preparedness in North Sulawesi Province on Friday, May 8, 2026. It was to support the security of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines.

The supporting security is part of the TNI's routine joint operational readiness to overcome various potential situations in the ASEAN region.

"The activity involved the Indonesian Army, Navy, and Air Force to test interoperability, troop mobility, VVIP security capabilities, and quick response to emergencies," Head of Defense Information Bureau of Secretariat General of Indonesian Defense Ministry, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait conveyed in an official statement received by RRI VOI on Friday night, May 8, 2026.

He further said that they all were carried out measurably and professionally by prioritizing the principle of caution and respect for the sovereignty of friendly countries.

In addition, Rico mentioned that Indonesia views regional stability and security as a shared responsibility of ASEAN countries. Therefore, the TNI's preparedness in this context is part of Indonesia's contribution to supporting the creation of a safe and conducive regional situation and supporting the success of ASEAN's strategic agendas.

Meanwhile, the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Cebu, Philippines, on May 7-8, 2026, was also attended by President Prabowo Subianto. Subianto. The President and ASEAN heads of state discussed several strategic regional agendas.

One of the main focuses was reinforcing cooperation and energy security in Southeast Asia. Indonesia's presence at the ASEAN forum provides a crucial opportunity to foster regional energy collaboration amidst global geopolitical dynamics.

Indonesia also highlighted the importance of regional solidarity and coordination in addressing global challenges. It also believes that the challenge has the potential to disrupt the stability of energy supplies and the regional economy.
